Apple iWatch

Here are some of the many concept arts going around the net, we will just have to wait and see what it will actually look like in the coming months.

Apple has been working on a Smartwatch for some time and the rumours have been dropping out the sky like the British rainfall. It seems the iWatch is due to be released in October 2014, and there is speculation that Apple will hold a special event for this. The obvious rumour is that it will be specifically for iOS, which is no surprise.

It is expected to have around ten different sensors and the usual bells and whistles you would expect from a Smartwatch and possibly a blood pressure sensor, and blood glucose reader if they can get approval from the FDA.

The big debate at the moment is the display and the size of the iWatch, the initial gos was that the iWatch would come in two different flavours and screen sizes to suit different wrist sizes and budgets, the 1.3” and the 1.6” display; however Forbes* and The Wall Street Journal** recently reported that there could be a 2.5” variation to add to the flavours and possible different designs.

  1. Great blog! Do you know if these watches will incorporate NFC technology?

    1. Thanks Austin, thats a really good question, I remember reading about NFC being incorporated into SmartWatches back in 2013, and it was said it was going to be in the Sony Smartwatch 2 and potentially the Apple Smartwatch.

I know that the Smartwatch 2 has NFC so that you can easily transfer data between other NFC devices and potentially use it for making payments at stores. But I do not recall any other watches since having NFC, including the new LG G Watch and Samsung Galaxy Live Watch coming out on the 7th July.

Rumours are still speculating that NFC will be available in the new iWatch as well as Wireless charging, which sounds exciting. But I guess we are just going to have to wait closer to the release date to find out if these rumours become reality.
